Where is Cape Charles? We’re located at the southern tip of Virginia’s Eastern Shore — which is that little sliver of land separating the Chesapeake Bay from the Atlantic Ocean.

How far is Cape Charles from Richmond? Cape Charles is just two hours from Richmond city center, or just over 120 miles. It's a direct drive down Interstate 64 followed by a trip over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (check their toll schedule here) and a short drive down Hwy. 13.

How far is Cape Charles from Virginia Beach? Cape Charles is less than an hour from Virginia Beach, making it an ideal day drip from either side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.

How far is Cape Charles from Washington, D.C.? Cape Charles is about four hours from Washington, D.C. You can either take Interstate 95 to 64 and then head across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, or go through Maryland on US-50 and down the Eastern Shore on Hwy. 13. Mileage is similar either way; check out local traffic before hitting the road.

What's the best way of getting around Cape Charles? Be prepared to leave your car parked for the week and take advantage of the extreme walkability of Cape Charles. You’re never more than a 15-minute stroll from anything in the historic district — the beach, the park, the restaurants, bakeries, and shops. And while walking is the best way to take in the town’s ambience, we also love biking, scootering, and skateboarding around.

Is Cape Charles golf cart-friendly? Yes! If you really want to travel in Cape Charles style, get yourself a golf cart, and enjoy exploring the town with the wind in your hair. Golf carts are street legal here, as long as they follow the rules of the road, and they’re the preferred way to zip around from beach to beach house and back again. We recommend booking ahead if you’d like to rent from CC Ryder Rentals or Eastern Shore Custom Carts — they do sell out of carts in the summer months. Where can I rent bikes in Cape Charles? Cape Charles is extremely bike-friendly, and bikes are a great way to get around town while enjoying some exercise. You can rent bikes from SouthEast Expeditions and they'll deliver them right to your rental home.
