How far is Cape Charles from Virginia Beach? Cape Charles is less than an hour from Virginia Beach, making it an ideal day drip from either side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.
How far is Cape Charles from Washington, D.C.? Cape Charles is about four hours from Washington, D.C. You can either take Interstate 95 to 64 and then head across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, or go through Maryland on US-50 and down the Eastern Shore on Hwy. 13. Mileage is similar either way; check out local traffic before hitting the road.

Golf carts are street legal here, as long as they follow the rules of the road, and they’re the preferred way to zip around from beach to beach house and back again.
