Sonal and Harsh’s first visit to Cape Charles was a last-minute trip in the summer of 2020. Their friends Rod and Kathy invited them and their sons to stay with them in a house on Monroe Avenue for the week. Within just a few days, the group had fallen head over heels in love with the town, and they began the search for their very own Cape Charles home. Two months later, they placed an offer on a historic Colonial just steps from the beach — sight unseen. After several months of renovations, we’re excited to officially introduce Open Road, a Cape Charles vacation rental with water views.
This beautiful property has undergone some serious renovations over the past few months to modernize it while retaining its historical character. “With a house that's more than 100 years old, we knew there was work to be done, but took the risk anyways because the location can't be beat,” Rod says. “It's got the charm of the old town, but we've updated it to bring it back to life!”
Open Road can sleep up to 10 guests comfortably with three bedrooms — two kings and a bunk room with a twin bunk bed as well as a full-over-full bunk bed. There’s also a queen sleeper sofa in a bonus room downstairs if guests prefer to spread out. There are 2.5 bathrooms, a renovated kitchen, and laundry room. “It’s spacious and has all the amenities to make people feel comfortable during their stay,” Sonal says.
And the best part of Open Road? “We are steps from the beach!” Kathy says. “You can see the water from the second floor with perfect sunset views right outside the front door.” The home is in a quiet residential area that is still a quick walk away from the hustle and bustle of Cape Charles’ main street.
“We hope guests feel a warm welcome as they enter the door and can truly feel like they can relax and enjoy themselves and the little town,” Harsh says. “We hope they can fall in love with it just as we have!”
